What a BMW FSC code actually is
FSC stands for Freischaltcode — German for activation code. It is a cryptographic key generated against a single VIN that tells your head unit one thing: this map release is licensed for this exact car. Without a matching code the iDrive simply refuses the files, however genuine they are.
That is why a BMW FSC code can never be borrowed, shared or bought second-hand. A code generated for another chassis will not activate on yours — the head unit checks the VIN before it checks anything else. Every code we issue is compiled against the VIN you give us and verified by a specialist before it is sent.

Which system takes which code
NBT NEXT, CIC Premium, CIC Move, Entry Motion and NBT EVO ID4 all use a 20-digit FSC code typed once into the iDrive screen. EntryNav ROUTE does the same.
NBT EVO ID5/6, EntryNav2 WAY, MGU LIVE and MGU JOY use the Lifetime FSC file.

NEXT, Premium, Move, Motion, EVO ID4 and Route receive a 20-digit code. EVO ID5/6, WAY, LIVE and JOY receive a Lifetime FSC file that activates automatically.
