Generation by generation
ID4 or ID5/6? Both say "EVO". Tile/widget menu with touch = ID5/6 (2017+). Classic list menu = ID4. This matters for CarPlay — only ID5/6 supports it. See the CarPlay compatibility guide.

Can I upgrade my head unit to a newer generation?
Hardware retrofits exist but are a different job from map updates. For most owners, keeping the current system’s maps fresh is the better-value route.
Which generations support Apple CarPlay?
Factory CarPlay is possible on NBT EVO ID5/6 and EntryNav2 (roughly 2017 onwards). Our activation service unlocks it for life.
Are MINI systems different from BMW?
No — MINI uses the same head units (NBT, EVO, EntryNav2, MGU) with MINI styling. Updates and FSC codes work identically.
